Christmas 2006
Christmas this year was more spectacular than ever. It was the boys' first Christmas and they loved it. It was raining like crazy and the temperature was a bit chilling, but it didn't dampin our spirits. For Christmas Eve, we went to a candle light Christmas service in Temple and then to Aunt Barbara & Uncle Frankie's house. The Puente's locked their keys in their car, but OnStar was to the rescue! We enjoyed exchanging gifts and watching the children open theirs. We headed to Rockdale fairly late and the boys were beat. Once in Rockdale, the boys went straight to bed and the adults exchanged gifts and enjoyed time visiting. Christmas morning came awfully early for the adults but none to early for Bryce and Kade. After having their morning bottles, it was off to the presents...and the Christmas tree...and the ornaments. Bryce and Kade had a blast opening up gifts and modeling their new wagon. In between opening gifts, they were often side tracked by the sparkling lights on the trees and the pretty ornaments. It was difficult to keep them focused on the task at hand! We soon got ready and headed to Aunt Linda's in Rosebud for Christmas lunch. The boys had a great time visiting everyone and went from one pair of arms to another! After lunch, we headed back to Cameron to visit with Great- PawPaw Short in the nursing home and then we went to "the barn" as my dad calls it (it is actually their new house) to spend time with the Shorts. I think Daddy had the most fun here because PawPaw Short gave him a new hunting gun, which he had to go try out. After multiple bangs and echos of bangs, we headed back to College Station. After a long two days, the boy had just a few more presents to open from Mommy and Daddy. By now, we had the opening thing down. One rip...eat the paper...another rip...eat more paper...eventually, all presents were unwrapped and the boys were sitting amidst more toys than then knew what to do with. What a glorious day to not only celebrate giving gifts, but also to recognize the true meaning of Christmas and to take time to thank and give credit to the One responsible for this day. Oh Lord, thank you for blessing our family so richly. We will constantly strive to remember where we came from and give all glory to you for our many blessings.
